Mary Washington Healthcare, located in Fredericksburg, VA, is actively recruiting an additional Palliative Care physician to join our existing, growing practice. We are conveniently located midway between Washington DC and Richmond, VA off I-95. We are 55 miles from both. Affordable and historic, our community is close to most everything when you want to get away or simply enjoy the tremendous, laid-back community of approximately 40,000. Mary Washington Hospital is a 471 bed, level 2 trauma Center. We are actively adding to our current palliative care team.Palliative Care Physician

Mary Washington Healthcare is seeking a compassionate and collaborative Palliative Care Physician to join our growing multidisciplinary team in Fredericksburg, Virginia. This physician will provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient palliative care services focused on symptom management, goals-of-care discussions, advanced care planning, and improving quality of life for patients with serious and chronic illnesses.

The ideal candidate will work closely with hospital-based physicians, specialists, APPs, nursing staff, case management, hospice partners, and care coordination teams across the health system.

Responsibilities
  • Provide inpatient and outpatient palliative care consultations
  • Manage pain and complex symptom needs for seriously ill patients
  • Lead discussions regarding goals of care, prognosis, and advance care planning
  • Support patients and families through serious illness and end-of-life transitions
  • Collaborate with physicians, APPs, nursing staff, social workers, chaplaincy, and hospice agencies
  • Participate in interdisciplinary care conferences and family meetings
  • Maintain timely and accurate EMR documentation
  • Participate in equitable call coverage responsibilities
Qualifications
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
  • Completion of residency training in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or related specialty
  • Fellowship training in Hospice and Palliative Medicine preferred
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine
  • Eligible for unrestricted Virginia medical licensure
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
