Job Description SummaryNeurology inpatient service treats a wide spectrum of neurological disorders to include:
Stroke, TIA, seizures, status epilepticus, MS, Parkinson’s, Meningitis/Encephalitis, neuromuscular disorders, brain tumors, and ICH
Consult service only. Hospitalists admit patients. Critical care physicians and Neurosurgeons are available 24/7
2 EMU beds available for monitoring as well as EEG machines equipped with video for monitoring ICU patients. EEG technologists available 24/7
Outstanding Neuroradiology support as well as IR services for lumbar punctures
Assistance of APP for rounding during the day

Get with The Guidelines Stroke Gold Plus With Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite for applying the most up-to-date evidence-based treatment guidelines to improve patient care and outcome. Awarded by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association for the excellent treatment of stroke patients
We have telestroke technology including Viz.ai for rapid LVO detection and as a real time communication tool between providers. We also have Caregility video access from mobile device or laptop computer bringing Neurology to bedside for acute stroke. This technology is available 24/7
CT perfusion is included in our stroke workflow
Must meet all criteria necessary for Medical Staff privileges in the area of Neurohospitalist as approved by Mary Washington Hospital medical staff bylaws and the Mary Washington Healthcare Board of Directors.
Must be a graduate of an AMA approved school of medicine or osteopathy (ECFMG candidate if foreign medical school graduate).
Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Virginia required.
Active DEA License required.
AHA BLS Provider CPR required
Must be eligible for participation in Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party insurances.
Must complete Board Certification in Neurology
Authorized to work in the United States.
Prior Neurohospitalist experience preferred.
