Ultrasound Technologist

Location: Inpatient (Mary Washington Hospital and Stafford Hospital) and Outpatient (Various facilities through the Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, King George and Stafford areas)


Job Type: Full Time, Part Time and PRN


Shift: Various Shifts Available    

Relocation Assistance: Offered 50+ Miles from Fredericksburg

Ultrasound Technologist (Inpatient) Requirements:

  • Completion of accredited program in ultrasound
  • ARDMS (AB or OB/GYN or VT) or ARRT (S) required at time of hire. If not ARDMS (OB/GYN) registered at time of hire, registry required within twelve months of hire with the first attempt to pass the OB/GYN registry within six months of hire.
  • American Heart Association CPR required

Ultrasound Technologist (Outpatient) Requirements:

  • Completion of accredited program in ultrasound
  • ARDMS (AB or OB/GYN or RVT) or ARRT (S) required:
  • If not ARDMS (OB/GYN) registered at time of hire, registry required within six months of hire.
  • If not ARDMS (RVT) registered at time of hire, registry required within 12 months of hire.
  • American Heart Association CPR required

Ultrasound Technologist (Outpatient) Women’s Requirements:

  • Completion of accredited program in ultrasound
  • ARDMS (AB or OB/GYN or RVT) or ARRT (S) required:
  • If not ARDMS (OB/GYN) registered at time of hire, registry required within six months of hire.
  • If not ARDMS (BR) registered at time of hire, registry required within 12 months of hire.
  • If not ARDMS (RVT) registered at time of hire, registry required within 24 months of hire.
  • American Heart Association CPR required

Required

Physical Requirements: Constant (67-100% of workday) use of arms and hands; frequent (34-66% of workday) standing, walking, sitting; occasional (0-33% of workday) bending and squatting; ability to lift 35 lbs.; ability to push and pull up to 20 lbs.; auditory and visual skills to include color determination

Mental Requirements: Possesses critical thinking and analytical skills.  Ability to multi-task.  Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team.  Capacity to cope with difficult situations. Ability to tolerate irregular hours including evenings, nights, and weekends. 

Environmental Requirements and Exposure Hazards: Risk of exposure to radiation and toxic chemicals.  Potential for exposure to bloodborne pathogens; must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment.  

For MRI Associates: Must complete MRI Associate screening and be approved to work in the MRI environment (Zones 3 & 4) at all times.
