Join our dynamic and collaborative Gastroenterology team providing inpatient care at Mary Washington Hospital. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to support our GI physicians in managing hospitalized patients with acute gastrointestinal illnesses. This position is exclusively hospital-based and focused on rounding, with no after-hours or on-call responsibilities.Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with the attending Gastroenterologist to assess, diagnose, and manage patients with acute GI conditions.
- Perform initial GI workups and follow-up assessments as directed.
- Participate in daily hospital rounds, reviewing test results, documentation, and care plans.
- Rounding at both Mary Washington Hospital and Stafford Hospital. Hospitals are approx. 20 minutes apart.
- Partner with residents and, beginning Fall 2026, GI Fellows as part of an academic and team-based environment.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.

Qualifications:
- Active NP or PA license in the state of Virginia or eligible
- AHA BLS Provider CPR required
- 1 yr + experience in Gastroenterology or acute care preferred but not required
- Ability to work with a team and build strong working relationships with health care team
- Demonstrate integrity, quality, adaptability, and desire to positively impact lives of our patients through compassionate care
- Successful completion of pre-placement employment evaluation
