Job Summary:The Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing logistics and supply chain operations. The Logistics Manager is responsible for managing transportation, warehousing, inventory control, and distribution processes to ensure timely and cost-effective receipt through delivery of goods, transportation of pathology items from point of collection to point of testing, and movement of other goods and materials as required throughout the healthcare system. The Logistics Manager will lead a team of logistics professionals, collaborate with various departments, and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Develops and implements logistics strategies and plans to meet objectives and customer requirements.
- Coordinates and oversees transportation, warehousing, and distribution operations to ensure efficient and cost-effective delivery of goods.
- Leads, mentors, and manages a team of logistics and supply chain staff, including hiring, training, and performing performance evaluations.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with suppliers, carriers, and third-party logistics providers.
- Oversees inventory control processes, including stock levels, reorder points, and stock rotation.
- Implements inventory management systems and practices to minimize costs and prevent stockouts or overstock situations.
- Identifies opportunities for process improvements and implements best practices to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Monitors and analyzes key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the effectiveness of logistics operations and make data-driven decisions.
- Ensures compliance with all relevant regulations, including transportation, safety, and environmental standards.
- Develops and enforces safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
- Prepares and manages the departmental budget, including forecasting and controlling costs.
- Monitors expenditures and implements cost-saving measures as necessary.
- Addresses and resolve any logistics-related issues or customer complaints in a timely and professional manner.
- Works closely with other departments to ensure customer satisfaction and support overall business goals.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 5-7 years of experience in logistics or supply chain management, with a proven track record of successful team leadership and process optimization, required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM)) are preferred.
- Strong understanding of logistics and supply chain principles and practices.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Proficiency in logistics software and systems (e.g., WMS, TMS).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
