Job Summary:

This position will assess, plan, coordinate, implement, direct, and evaluate the School of Radiologic Technology in an efficient and effective manner. The Program Manager operates an educational program in accordance with Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology Standards (JRCERT) that qualifies graduates to sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) certification examination in Radiography. The Program Manager ensures that the educational program is accredited by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV). The manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the School of Radiologic Technology in a manner that supports the mission, vision and values of Mary Washington Healthcare. This position must demonstrate a commitment of quality service to our customers.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Maintains current knowledge of national radiology and health care trends and developments as they relate to the educational process.
  • Provides skillful management of physical, financial, and human resources for the school.
  • Manage all program equipment and software/hardware devices to ensure consistent performance.
  • Develop and implement annual program budget and track monthly performance
  • Prepare and submit required records and reports in a timely manner
  • Conduct faculty and student evaluations and coaching/counseling sessions as required
  • Develops, implements, and monitors the total educational program and curriculum to assure effective outcomes.
  • Communicates changes in curriculum to faculty, students, and administration in a timely manner Selects, assists, and evaluates faculty and coordinates clinical site affiliations and student rotations to provide quality education according to established goals and objectives.
  • Maintain communication and work cooperatively with clinical instructors at each clinical site.
  • Designs, implements and coordinates educational activities to meet adult learning needs; promotes knowledge and skill development.
  • Assign faculty and schedule courses for each semester and participate with course instruction.
  • Establishes educational record and other information systems designed to support record maintenance.
  • Ensures the application of sound educational principles and strategies for all radiologic technology education.
  • Implements a systematic performance improvement program to evaluate educational outcomes for the school in keeping with the hospital wide performance improvement process.
  • Identifies members of Advisory Committee and coordinates structured, agenda driven committee meetings at least annually Identifies goals, objectives and benchmarks that assess program effectiveness and are consistent with JRCERT requirements
  • Develop, implement and communicate changes in curriculum to faculty, students, and administration in a timely manner Develops and implements long term plans and strategies for the school.
  • Ensures student handbook is kept current and updated at least annually.
  • Interfaces and collaborates with Public Relations and Marketing to prepare program literature and ensure website reflects current information.
  • Positively represent and promote the School of Radiology and Mary Washington Healthcare at community events.
  • Demonstrates effective leadership and communication skills that foster the professional development and productivity of faculty and students.
  • Maintains professional competence and furthers professional growth through participation in continuing education and professional organizations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications:

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification in Radiography is required.
  • Advanced standing ARRT credentials is preferred.
  • Master’s degree in Education, Radiologic Technology or related field is required.
  • Minimum of three years experience as an instructor in a JRCERT accredited Radiologic Technology program is required.
  • Two years supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Proficient in curriculum design, program administration, evaluation, instruction and student advising.
  • Ability to interpret and implement accreditation criteria and applicable federal, state and local regulations related to the healthcare industry
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills are required.
  • Strong computer skills relevant to the position are required.
