Job Summary:
The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is direct care provider who possess the skills required for the delivery of competent, and safe anesthesia services. Within this role, the CRNA will provide anesthesia for general, regional and sedation cases that begins with the evaluation of patients needs in the preoperative period, management of the patient in the intra-operative period, and extends to the transition of care to the post-operative healthcare provider.
Qualifications:
The following are the basic requirements for the CRNA:
- Graduate from a nurse anesthesia program that is accredited by the boards of nursing and medicine or the council on the Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Education Programs/Schools
- Current Virginia licensure as a Registered Nurse
- Current Virginia licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in Anesthesia.
- Current Certification as a Nurse Anesthetist by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists or if pending initial certification, evidence of graduation from an approved nurse anesthesia program and of board eligibility.
- Insurable by an appropriate medical malpractice insurer for the limits required by the state of Virginia.
- Successful completion of the pre-placement employment evaluation.
- Successful completion of the credentialing or recredentialing process through the office of Medical Staff Services.
